“So a church leader must be a man whose life is 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙘𝙝.”
1 Timothy 3:2a NLT
The Well Encounter is not a traditional church if you will, but I do believe we are being entrusted to lead God’s people. It has me asking myself, "Where is my life NOT above reproach?" In other words, "Where in my life should I hold myself to a higher standard? As I did research about the meaning biblically and in general, I found it to feel very legalistic in one sense but very wise in another. My goal, of course, Is to NOT bring undue judgement on the church, Christianity or Jesus
unnecessarily…like disgrace and/or shame.
The bible made it clear: the leader's life should be free from sinful habits or behaviors that would impede their setting the highest Christian standard and model for the church to emulate. The Websters dictionary put it like this; living life in such a way that no criticism can be made.
All that to say this feels like a very tall order and yet a standard I want to live by. I truly desire to give God glory through my life. As I decide to walk in a position of leadership, I know accountability is so much more important at this stage. Whew, so many thoughts to chew on. I am loving the book of Timothy. <3
