“The capitals on the columns were shaped like lilies. And so the work on the columns was finished.”— 1 Kings 7:22 (NLT)

It’s such a small thing—shaping the tops of the columns like lilies—but that’s what stands out. Solomon didn’t have to do it AND That’s the thing…it wasn’t just about getting the job done for Solomon. He wasn't simply checking a box. He followed God’s instructions for sure AND he went above and beyond. He didn't do It because he had to, but because he wanted to! He

gave his best, not "just enough" to barely get by. He finished well. It reminds me of that verse in Colossians 3:23 “Do everything is in working for the Lord, not man!”

It makes me wonder: when God asks us to do something, do we give Him our very best? Or do we stop once it’s “good enough”? Do we simply do what we need to do to check the box?

For Solomon, the extra detail wasn’t about being fancy—it was about honoring God. His careful work was an act of worship.

Lord, help me give You my best in the big things and the small things. I want my work to point to You, not just be “done.”
