In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah this Passover was kept.” 2 Chronicles 35:19

Almost like Scripture is subtly hinting at how often it wasn’t. Passover wasn’t just another holiday on their calendar — it was the heartbeat of their story. The night God rescued them.

It makes me think about how Christmas functions for us. The lights, the memories, the traditions… all of it pointing back to a miracle we never want to forget. Even Christmas can turn into a routine or a ritual instead of a reminder. When we aren't mindful of the real reason for the season, it can become more about what we get, who we see or where we go, than about the gift of Jesus.

Passover was never meant to be routine. It was meant to be THE reminder of a God who stepped in when they couldn’t save themselves. Even though I’m not Jewish, I’m still living inside the blessing of that same history — the same history that lead all of us to a Savior, a God who pulls people out of places they could never climb out of on their own.

Forgetting comes with a cost!

The older I get the more I want Christmas, Easter and all opportunities to celebrate what the Lord has done for us to be different! It's not a holiday it's an opportunity to keep the main thing, the main thing!
