“Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will experience affliction for ten days. Be faithful to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
Revelation 2:10 CSB
There is so much in today’s reading that I want to dissect my goodness. Im so thankful for the Holy Spirit. I wish I had the whole day to sit and listen and better understand today's reading. The more and more I read the Bible the more I am drawn to taking classes on theology because I’m just so interested in the deep understanding of the Word Both logically and revelatory. With that said as I read this particular part of scripture in multiple translations today, my spirit kept impressing upon me that as this verse talks about death, it doesn’t mean death In a human sense as much as it means death to our flesh.
Suffering is a part of the human condition, that much I know Is true, but what the Holy Spirit is revealing to me today is much of our suffering revolves around dying to self and living a life with Christ so that we can experience life abundantly, which is what Christ came to give us. It reminds me of the verse in the Bible that says, "pick up your cross and follow me."
Im certainly no theologian but I know that while the end times does mean death, my life today and right now I know I am in a sanctification process for sure.
