Judges 19: We need Jesus like we need oxygen.

Judges 19 made my stomach turn. It's pure cruelty. It's callousness. It's a complete lack of humanity: “While they were enjoying themselves, some of the wicked men of the city surrounded

the house. Pounding on the door, they shouted to the old man who owned the house, ‘Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him.’”—Judges 19:22
I turned on worship music and just sat with this. It’s beyond disturbing. Is this what happens when small compromises pile up? When we live disconnected from God—when selfish desire takes over and there’s no true leadership or anchor?
Have you ever been caught up in something you knew wasn’t right? Maybe it looked good at first—but the moment you stepped into it, it was anything but. That’s what sin does. It promises pleasure but delivers misery. I can’t imagine these men surrounding the house were experiencing any kind of fulfillment. They had turned savage.
Is this the natural progression of doing life on our own terms? Letting sin drive? It always takes us further than we wanted to go. It always costs more than we were willing to pay.
Reading this reminds me why I have to stay close to Jesus. Even putting Him second leads to implosion. He alone brings life, light, and healing in a world that can grow so incredibly dark.
