“Do not be concerned about your belongings, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.’””
Genesis 45:20 CSB
All I can think of is Mercy is the act of withholding deserved punishment, while grace is the act of giving approval or kindness, which is freely given. In His mercy, God does not give us punishment we deserve, while in His grace, God gives us the gift we do not deserve. (our inheritance!)
Not only was Joseph put in a position to save HIS people/family. He saved all of Egypt as well. What I love even more is the favor that was bestowed to him, was freely given to his family, AND his brothers, who didn't deserve it. Nor were they given the punishment they did deserve. I can't even believe they are getting away with what they did in essence to their brother and not paying the penalty. They are however being given preferential treatment like an heir would. What an example of God's mercy and grace. Joseph's story is on that points to what Jesus does on the cross for sure. We see God's nature in how this plays out. He is merciful and offers an unending amount of grace.
Joseph's response to his brothers is an example of how the Lord responds to us. He welcomes us with open arms. This totally reminds me of the prodigal son. It also is such a great display of healing/freedom one gets when they forgive!
This is alot to take in. Im going to sit in this today.
