2 Kings 4: More Than Enough

As I read this, I sensed the Lord saying that many of us live from a place of lack instead of abundance.
“‘What can I do to help you?’ Elisha asked. ‘Tell me, what do you have in the house?’ ‘Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,’ she replied.” —2 Kings 4:2
This widow’s whole world felt like it was collapsing, and when asked what she had, her response was “nothing… except.” Isn’t that how we often see ourselves? We focus on what’s missing, what’s not enough, what feels insignificant. Yet, that very small jar of oil—the thing she almost dismissed—was the exact thing God used to provide more than she could have imagined.
God still does that today. He takes our “not enough” and turns it into overflow. Notice this—if she had gathered more jars, she would have received more oil.
The miracle was measured by the space she made.
The Lord is reminding us: make room for Him to move. Bring what you do have, however small, and lay it at His feet. Watch Him turn lack into abundance.
Lord, show me where I’ve been focused on my “not enough.” Today, I bring to You the little I have, and I lay it at Your feet. I ask You to breathe on it and do what only You can do. Expand my faith, enlarge my capacity, and help me make room for Your Spirit to move in ways beyond what I can ask or imagine. In Jesus’ name, amen.
