Today was the emphasis of “both man and woman.” Why point that out? Why not just say “everyone”?
“Then he distributed to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to everyone a loaf of bread, a piece of meat, and a cake of raisins.” 1 Chronicles 16:3 NKJV
I decided to do a little discovery work behind the scenes if you will. Back then, women weren’t usually mentioned in moments like this. Men were the ones counted, and recognized. The fact that Scripture calling it out specifically, including women really caught my attention.
It was like God was making sure we know His presence and His blessings aren’t reserved for a select few. Nobody was left out. Jesus had not yet come, but it is clear what God gives us for all.
Who around me might feel overlooked? Who do I need to remind that God sees them, that they’re just as included in His story?
I love that the Word can take something as simple as raisin cakes and bread and use it to show me His heart for everyone.
